I asked Square to make me a map of their transactions to see where they had users. The map you see shows one hour of transaction volume on a Friday afternoon. The size of the bubble represents the volume of the transactions while the different colors indicate the types of users that Square has….

I’m happy to announce my first (short) book “How to Count”, is now available on Kindle. Coming soon to unprotected PDF, print-on-demand (and iBooks/ePub if I can figure out how). “How to Count” is the first volume of what I hope will become a series called “Programming for Mere Mortals”, designed to teach you programming concepts from the inside-out.

The molecular structure of lignin.
From the Green Apple Bookstore Blog:
Lignin, the stuff that prevents all trees from adopting the weeping habit, is a polymer made up of units that are closely related to vanillin. When made into paper and stored for years, it breaks down and smells good. Which is how divine providence has arranged for secondhand bookstores to smell like good quality...

The genius of Batman is that it pretends to be realistic, it lets us convince ourselves that with enough money and training, we could become Batman, too. But it’s still fantasy, it’s just a fantasy that is more compelling and convincing and thus more fun.

Rule five: if we’re playing Mario Kart, please don’t start crying because you’re being pwned so hard. Okay? These controllers are expensive, and I don’t want to have to replace them because you’ve damaged them with your tears. Alright? I know it’s stressful being so utterly trounced by me, but try and keep it together.

Everything's going to be fine
The Doctor: You know when grown-ups tell you everything's fine and you think they're probably lying to make you feel better.

In CASINO ROYALE, James Bond is the Bond girl. Look at the way they even show him emerging from the ocean like Ursula Andress. Sexual torture, too, if less creepy-glam than being stripped and painted gold. Vesper Lynd is Bond: never not in control, never without a plan, seducing to further her goals. She has to die so Bond can become her.

FOTONICA - Launch Trailer (by Santa Ragione)
This is a first person game about jumping, sense of speed and discovery.
The key is timing, the goal is exploring and traveling flawlessly through the environment. The setting is an abstract - mainly duotone - outlined world, with a look referring to the ‘50s geometrical abstractions as well as the 3D low-poly gaming era.

I’ve created a ‘making stuff’ tumblr, for when I make stuff. It only has one post right now, but you should totally follow it.
Using Amit Singh’s AMS2HID I attempted to play The Incident on my MacBook Pro using the motion sensor. This was a very bad idea for a few reasons:
There is no way to map the space/enter keys, so I still had to press them manually.
The spacebar didn’t always work, this may have been due to interference with AMS2HID.
